Author Guidelines

 

I. Journal Profile

 

The journal «Crop Production, Selection and Seed Production, Fruit and Vegetable Growing» publishes articles on current issues in agronomy and related fields: crop production, agriculture, vegetable growing, selection, seed production, seed science, genetics, fruit growing, agrochemistry, soil science, storage technology, and interdisciplinary research in the agricultural sector.

The primary aim of the journal is to popularise and disseminate research findings that promote the development of agricultural science, as well as to create conditions for collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and educators.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of terms, surnames, data, quotations, and statistical materials cited in the article. All materials submitted for publication undergo a two-tier peer review system: external (a review is provided by a specialist – Candidate or Doctor of Sciences from any institution other than SBTU staff; certified with a seal) and internal (blind; a review is provided by members of the SBTU editorial council). The decision on publication is made by the editorial board. The editorial board reserves the right to abridge, edit the text, and change the article title.

Manuscripts rejected by the editorial board are not returned to authors.

 

Submission deadlines:

– Issue 1 – by 1 May (expected publication on the website: June of the current year);

– Issue 2 – by 1 October (expected publication on the website: December of the current year).

 

The following are accepted for publication:

– completed original works not previously published (5–20 pages);

– theoretical and review articles of up to 1 printer's sheet, including the reference list (at least 30 publications);

– descriptions of original methods and instruments.

 

Articles are published in Ukrainian or English. Materials are submitted to the email address of the executive secretary.

Font size: 14 pt

Line spacing: 1.0

Paragraph indent: 1.25 cm

Alignment: justified

 

III. Tables, Figures, Charts, and Formulae

 

        Tables, figures, charts, and formulae must be centred (text wrap around images is not permitted), numbered, and placed after the relevant reference in the text (notes are placed directly beneath the table/figure/chart). All abbreviations must be defined at first mention in the text. The width of tables and figures must not be smaller or larger than the text column width.

        Formulae are typeset using the built-in MS Equation formula editor in italics and are numbered on the right-hand side.

        Tables must be compact and carry a title that accurately reflects their content. The word "Table" with the sequential number is placed before the title in bold, centred. Source references (where applicable) are placed after the table title.

        Graphic material (figures, illustrations, diagrams, charts, etc.) must be clear and distinct; graph and chart lines and all symbols must be sharp. The figure caption is placed below the figure, centred. The word "Fig." and the figure title are given in bold, centred. Source references (where applicable) are placed after the figure title.

 

IV. Article Structure

 

The UDC index is printed without indent, in bold, left-aligned.

Author information is given one line below –– in bold, centred: surnames and initials of the author(s); academic title, academic degree, and position of each author; email and ORCID of each author; full name of the institution, city, country. Information is provided for each author individually.

Article title – printed one line below in capital letters, bold, centred.

 

Abstract in the language of the article (one line below): at least 1,800 characters (minimum 500 characters). Font size 12 pt, line spacing 1.0. (For articles written in English, the English-language abstract is 500 characters.) The abstract must be structured as a summary reflecting the essence of the research, the main findings, and their interpretation. The abstract must be structured and include the following elements (in bold): Problem statement (Formulation of the problem). Purpose. Methods. Results. Conclusions.

 

Keywords (Key words): 8–10 terms in Ukrainian.

 

One line below – information in English: author information – in bold, centred: surnames and initials of the author(s); academic title, academic degree, and position of each author; email and ORCID of each author; full name of the institution, city, country. Information is provided for each author individually.

Article title in English – one line below, in sentence case, bold, centred.

Abstract in English (one line below): at least 1,800 characters (approximately 300 words). Font size 12 pt, line spacing 1.0, followed by keywords.

After that, the main body of the article is placed. It should be in Ukrainian, with the following structural sections (each section heading to be highlighted): "Introduction", "Analysis of Recent Research and Publications", "Research Methodology" (presentation of the main material), "Results", "Discussion" (a combined "Results and Discussion" section is acceptable), "Conclusions", "References".

 

"Introduction" section

Must contain the problem statement, relevance of the research, aim, and objectives. A brief analysis of recent research and publications in which the problem has begun to be addressed must be provided, with identification of the specific unresolved issues to which the article is dedicated.

 

"Research Methodology" section

Must contain information on the object(s) of research, experimental conditions, analytical methods, instruments, etc. The methodology presented must provide a complete picture of the research process such that it could be replicated by other researchers using the same materials and methods.

 

"Results and Discussion" section

Presents the main research material with full substantiation of the scholarly findings obtained; tabular or graphical material with statistical analysis results must be included. The Discussion must be based on the interpretation of the research findings. In this section, the authors' results must be compared with the results of other authors' works on the chosen topic: what the results have in common, what the differences are, who has addressed other aspects of the issue, etc. Results must be compared not only with Ukrainian authors' research but also with the work of researchers from other countries. When analysing publications on the topic, authors' surnames must be mentioned and the substance of their work indicated.

 

"Conclusions" section

Must fully and specifically reflect the research findings, correspond to the aim and title of the article, and must not duplicate the abstract verbatim. Qualitative and quantitative indicators of the results must be emphasised, their reliability substantiated, and recommendations for their application provided. It is important to indicate the prospects for further research on the chosen topic.

 

Conflict of Interest

Authors declare at the end of the article any financial or other conflicts of interest that may have affected the results, interpretation, and conclusions of the research. All sources of funding for the work (grants, scholarships, donations, etc.) must be stated. If there is no conflict of interest, this must be declared as follows: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

 

Acknowledgements (if applicable)

Acknowledgement is expressed to individuals or organisations for technical assistance, ideas, or financial (material) support that made the research possible.

 

Funding (if applicable)

In this section, the author(s) must specify all sources of financial support received for carrying out the research.

 

References

Reference list (in order of citation in the text) must be formatted in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015, contain at least 20 sources (30 for review articles), 50% of which must be from the past five years; self-citation – up to 10%. URL/DOI must be provided. In-text references to sources are given in square brackets with the sequential citation number.

References section must be formatted in accordance with the APA (American Psychological Association) style. DOI or "Retrieved from" must be indicated.

At the end of the manuscript, the date of submission to the editorial board of the journal is indicated.
